Having had a wonderful experience planning my wedding with Bodas Del Sur in 2021 I went back to them 4 years later to plan celebrations for a big birthday. It was the best possible choice I could have made. I had the pleasure of working with Esther, who understood exactly what I wanted and planned and executed two events perfectly. We had a welcome dinner on Friday night with 40 out of town guests in a gorgeous Sevillian house/palace right in the heart of Sevilla, followed by a tapas and dance party on Saturday night for 75 at a funky local art gallery/restaurant, again right in Sevilla. All of my guests raved about the food, drink atmosphere and uniqueness of the experience, due in large part to Esther's knowledge and experience of venues, caterers, musical professionals etc. I can't recommend them highly enough.
Sadly - this is an abbreviated review due to Big Bro Google’s word limits – boo! Me? I'm the Father of the bride (FOB). Bride/Groom = Deirdre/Mohammad (DeMo). Bodas del Sur (BDS) So - where to begin in describing what was (to me) a "once-in-a-lifetime" wedding experience. First, all I wanted was the very best for DeMo and their 165 guests. The BDS wedding architects helping DeMo were Javi and his amazingly talented Miriam. Notably - traditional “sameness” (gorgeous flowers/wonderful food/great band) was predictably, NOT a priority for DeMo. Nevertheless, JM still masterfully delivered those needs perfectly. Rather, DeMo envisioned a cross-cultural (Persian/Western) wedding featuring a curation of unfolding events executed over 3-days, culminating in a day-after-wedding pool party where guests could meet to chat/swim/eat/drink and relax, before returning home. To make the event more unique/special (AKA: unconventional/complicated), DeMo discarded all traditional wedding officiation (yep – no priest), replacing it instead w/a bespoke celebration wherein DeMo stood in front of their 165 guests, while reciting their beautifully crafted vows, followed by me (FOB) asking the entirety of the invited 165 guests (now effectively transformed into a quasi “SINGULAR WEDDING OFFICIANT”), to audibly “approve” of DeMo’s union by loudly proclaiming “WE DO”! And with that, DeMo were (or is it was?) married. DeMo’s decidedly unconventional approach to their union created a uniquely “interactive” event, fascinating in execution, and unforgettable due to its singular creativity. One interesting residual effect of their wedding ceremony was that many of our guests commented to me how “connected, involved and special” they felt, and that they’d never experienced a celebration so uniquely revealing of the love and respect two people could have for each other. I’m 65, and it was certainly a first for me; it was the single most beautiful event of any type, I have ever attended. To say that this wedding experience was uniquely beautiful and emotional would not do it justice, as it was so much more than that to me. Simply – it was an event I never could have envisioned possible. The only moment in my life that perhaps matched it for me, was upon Deirdre's birth as I held her in my arms for the very first time. It was emotionally that special to me, as I felt so honored to be able to experience that feeling again, and in such a decidedly personal way as she begins this new stage of her life. While I could go on and on describing the event details (i.e. the 500 year old palace with specialty lighting Javi developed for it, or the 400 year old hacienda venue, the 75+ delicious tapas, the dozen handcrafted drinks combining Western and Persian culture, the 300 Persian ceramic tiles that Mohammad's incredible mother designed and crafted in Iran as gifts for our guests (which Javi then deftly navigated through Spanish customs), the glass coolers full of specialty popsicles to cool off our guests, the drones, photographers, videographers, dancing pandas, flamenco dancers, the fireworks followed by a wild electric violin player stationed at one point in the middle of the dance floor – or the one-of-a-kind audio system that sounded like something only heard at a high-end rock concert)…mere written description cannot do this wedding proper justice…as it was a 4-day extravaganza like none I believe I will ever again be lucky enough to experience…and it was Bodas del Sur that made it all possible. So if you want not just the best/most beautiful wedding imaginable – but rather, a magical/unforgettable “event”, executed by a passionate/caring team that will treat you, your family, and your daughter or son with unmatched care and respect, and which will be forever remembered by your guests just as WE too envisioned...then simply look no further than Javi and his magnificent team at Bodas del Sur, as they are in my opinion – incomparable. JC – Proud father of DeMo
